In Woods Canyon Pueblo: LIfe On The Edge, archaeologists and contemporary Native Americans share their thoughts about the possible reasons that a group of Pueblo Indians built their village on the edge of a steep canyon more than 800 years ago. The following lesson plans and study guides encourage teachers and students to explore different approaches to learning about culture and history.

ARCHAEOLOGY AT WOODS CANYON PUEBLO
In this lesson, students are asked to think like archaologists as they explore five theories about why Pueblo people chose to build a large village on the edge of Woods Canyon. For evidence, students rely on information presented by both archaeologists and Native Americans.

NATIVE AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES
In this lesson, students gain an understanding of how Native Americans perceive their world, past and present. Students are then asked to think about the similarities and differences between Native American values and the values of their own culture.
