General Location West-central portion of site.
Specific Location Northwestern portion of Architectural Block 100; below Structure 168 and Nonstructure 159; 492.9N 490.1E.
Interpretive Type Living room.
Structure Use Structure 176 is an earth-walled pit structure associated with Late Pueblo II residential architecture prior to the construction of the great house. Structure 176 is like other Late Pueblo II pit structures in that it was used in a domestic function. The presence of three hammerstones on the floor (Surface 1) indicates a domestic use of the structure.
Dating
Abandonment Structure 176 was abandoned in the Late Pueblo II period. Nonstructure 159 refuse was deposited into the depression of Structure 176 after it was no longer used. Three hammerstones were left on the structure floor (Surface 1).
Postabandonment Nonstructure 159 refuse was deposited into the depression of Structure 176 after it was no longer used.
