Use of structure inferred to be consistent with other small kivas of this time period--probably some combination of domestic and ritual uses. The inference that this is a kiva based on structure depth, prepared floor surfaces, formal hearth, and other pit features..

| Abandonment
|
Structure was abandoned as a result of an attack that resulted in the deaths of many of the villagers and ended the occupation of the village. This interpretation is based on the absence of refuse in the structure fill, and on fragmentary human remains in roof fall (typical of kivas at this site that were abandoned when the occupation of the village ended as a result of the attack). No remnants of roof beams were observed--these are inferred to have been removed when the structure was abandoned or shortly thereafter (based on absence of aeolian deposits on floor surface).
