| Structure Use
|
Structure 138 is similar to other pit structures occupied during the Pueblo II period and was probably used in a combination of domestic and ritual activities. The presence of multiple sherds on the floor surface, as well as four flakes, and one indeterminate ground stone, indicates a domestic use of the structure. The presence of a hearth (Feature 1), and the abrader in it, also indicates a domestic use of the structure. The hearth would have been used for light, heat, and food preparation.

|
Based on pottery left on the structure floor, it appears that Structure 138 was abandoned in the late Pueblo II period. Secondary refuse, Nonstructure 153, was deposited above the collapsed roof sediments. Nonstructure 153 dates from the Pueblo II and Pueblo III periods.

| Postabandonment
|
Based on pottery left on the structure floor, it appears that Structure 138 was abandoned in the late Pueblo II period. The primary roof beams were removed and probably recycled, leaving the remaining roof sediments to fall to the structure floor. Secondary refuse, Nonstructure 153, was deposited above the collapsed roof sediments. Nonstructure 153 dates from the Pueblo II and Pueblo III periods. Natural sediments accumulated above Nonstructure 153 deposits.
