ABOUT THIS NONSTRUCTURE
General Location Near southwest end of pueblo in Architectural Block 800; part of the great kiva complex.
Specific Location North of Structures 807 and 813, two peripheral rooms around the great kiva.
Selection Criteria Part of great kiva testing. Selected to test the area adjacent to, and north of, structures in the great kiva complex. This study unit includes a surface exposed in two separate excavation pits and some natural deposits.
Use A wall oriented north-south rests on this surface; it is not clear if this was an isolated wall or part of a structure. It is possible that some type of masonry structure once existed in this area, but that eroded into the arroyo to the north. If so, this surface might have been the floor of that structure.
Abandonment Not recorded.
Postabandonment Processes Wind-and-water-deposited sediment and wall fall from Structure 807 (a peripheral room of the great kiva) accumulated on the surface.
Dating of Construction No tree-ring dates. A wall that rests on this surface (Feature 1) abuts the north wall of Structure 807 (a great kiva peripheral room); this suggests that this surface was roughly contemporaneous with the great kiva complex.
Dating of Remodeling None.
Dating of Abandonment None.
Dating of Midden
Dating of Reuse None.
Date range 1 (A.D. 1250–1280)
