Spencer Burke

Mesa Verde National Park

Spencer Burke is a Park Ranger and Visual Information Specialist at Mesa Verde National Park. As a ranger with the National Park Service, Spencer has led field trips on hikes into the Grand Canyon, developed education programs on the Channel Islands, and collaborated with Pueblo community members to expand Pueblo perspectives in interpretation at Mesa Verde. Spencer received his BA in history at Harvard University and was John G. Owens Fellow of Mesoamerican Archaeology at the Peabody Museum, where he researched the museum’s collection from the Sacred Cenote at Chichén Itzá and worked with the Proyecto Arqueológico Rastrojón Copán on the excavation and documentation of El Rastrojón. Today, Spencer loves fostering connections with and advocating for public lands in southwest Colorado and beyond.
