Dave Satterwhite (B.S. Anthropology, Middle Tennessee State University), Field Manager, rejoined Crow Canyon in 2023 after working in the Cultural Resource Management sector for many years. He has conducted archaeological work in over ten states, primarily in the American West and Guam. His preferred area is the American Southwest, particularly the Four Corners region. As Field Manager, he enjoys the challenges and responsibilities of running a research project.
His professional interests include lithic technology, cultural manifestations of social inequity, the integration of Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and interpretations of the archaeological record, and early-Basketmaker adaptations and lifeways. Dave enjoys various outdoor activities outside of work, including mountain biking, trail running, rafting, climbing, and exploring the region’s mountains and deserts with his family and mutts.
