William is Navajo and his clans are “Coyote-Pass People” (mother’s clan-primary clan); his “born for clan” is “Where the Two Rivers Meet People” (father’s clan-secondary). His paternal grandfather’s clan is “Red Streak Cheek People,” and “Folded Arms People” are his maternal grandfather’s clan. He resides in Lukachukai, Arizona presently, but considers Tsaile, Arizona home with his wife Janice Toya-Tsosie (Sun Clan from Jemez).

William has Bachelor of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Southwest Studies from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. He has worked for the Navajo Nation Heritage and Historic Preservation Department in Window Rock, Arizona as an Archaeologist for the past ten plus years. William’s professional work has taken him throughout the greater Four Corners region of the Southwest and the Navajo Nation reservation. Some of his academic and scholarly interests include culturally peeled trees (CMTs), rock art, ceremonial system, material culture, and cultural resource protection of the Navajo people. William has a love for sharing his Navajo People’s history and traditional culture.
