Phiogeh: a Classic Period Tewa Community in New Mexico

The Phiogeh site (LA 144) is a Classic Period Tewa village located in the northern Espanola Valley north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The site is very important as an ancestral site to Ohkay Owingeh as well as having potential links to the Arizona Tewa which settled at Hopi. Patrick proposes that Phiogeh might have been part of a larger integrated agricultural and social network that tied multiple villages together in cooperation. This talk is a preliminary look at the Phiogeh site as part of a dissertation project that is in progress.
