Grant Coffey

Research Database Manager

Grant Coffey (M.A., Northern Arizona University) is an archaeologist and the research database manager at the Crow Canyon. Grant directed Phase II of the Goodman Point Archaeological Project from 2008 to 2011. He has more than 20 years of experience in the archaeology of the Four Corners and has published peer-reviewed research in American Antiquity, Journal of Field Archaeology, Journal of Anthropological Archaeology and Kiva, and he has contributed to many edited volumes. Much of his work at Crow Canyon has focused on Pueblo sites in the Goodman Point Unit of Hovenweep National Monument, and he has published articles about social organization and population movement in peer-reviewed professional journals. Grant is a team member of the Pueblo Farming Project (PFP) which is a collaborative project between the Hopi Tribe and the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center that began in 2008.
In his current position as the research database manager, Grant manages 40 years of archaeological field data, data from the PFP, and works with various stakeholders to provide access to the data and technical support. He also serves as a photogrammetry and GIS specialist at Crow Canyon, and he is currently the UAV (drone) operator for Crow Canyon.
In his spare time he likes fishing, hiking, and helping out on the family farm.
